WEST ERIE COUNTY, DWCO Randy Leighton, WCO Brook Tolbert

Conditions:
Area tribs are very low and very clear although there is still plenty of fishable water. Lower Elk Creek on the West side from the access area to the lake has good depth and a good scattering of fish. With mouth opened up from the recent flooding, this area of Elk is maintaining good depth. Fish are also scattered from the access area up to route 5 although there is considerable debris and many changes to the flow in this area. It may take some walking and searching to locate new pockets and holding fish. The Legion Park holes are very low and clear with only a few fish. A good number of fish were landed this past weekend along the wall at Walnut Creek and through out the Project waters and the Manchester hole. Angler pressure has been heavy around the Walnut access area with more anglers than fish at times. The lake shore at Trout Run is a good choice when wind and waves are cooperating. With the current trib conditions keep those hooks and baits as small as possible. Sucker spawn patterns and natural cured eggs on size 16 to 22 hooks are good presentations right now. rgl

Current Lake Erie water temperature as of this writing is 64 degrees. Area tribs as of this writing are low and very clear.

Law Enforcement:
This past week there were a number of violations including litter, not possessing a valid PA fishing license while fishing Commonwealth waters, possessing foul hooked fish, using PFBC controlled property for other than its intended use, fishing with an illegal device in state nursery waters, fishing with in 50 yards of the mouth of Trout Run (in this case directly in the mouth) between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following day, and not conforming to posted traffic signals on PFBC controlled property. rgl
