WALLEYE:

Mickey McBride of Erie came in with this nice Walleye. The first one I weighed or seen this year. It was 8 pounds and 12 ½ ounces and was 29 ¼ inches long with a girth of 16 inches. He caught it in 28 ft of water west of Walnut Creek near Elk Creek on a night crawler/worm harness. The color for him was copper.

Walleye being caught at night is about the best that is going on now. They are in anywhere from eight to twenty-five ft. of water. After nine o’clock at night is the best time for catching them.

Hopefully the fish will start biting so I can get some pictures. I haven’t had many boats go out and no one seems to be catching any fish yet. I have had a few people out looking for Perch but with no luck. The water temp at this writing is only 55 degree so maybe after a few days of hot weather it will bring the water temperature up and the fish will start biting then.
