WALLEYE AND BASS
Last weekend was one of the toughest weekends for the year. Two major cold fronts moved thru the area, creating dropping temps. and high winds. Very few reports of good catches arrived at the docks. We managed to boat a few nice smallmouth in canadian waters that two of them went 5.25 and 6.80, all released. This week the temps. and systems should get better and the water should clear up. Your best bet for walleye are still west of North Bass Island, Gull and Kelley reef, and 8 miles east of Kelley Island. For the bass start with 20' to 25', the cold front pushed the bass down.
PERCH:
Last weekend, if you could find a area to fish that was clear and no winds you caught nice perch. The perch will continue to do well untill the end of the season. Just west of the islands, the firing range markers, gull and kelley reef, and east of the airport of Kelley Island are still your best spots. Minnows are in good supply and get in early to get your fish cleaned, long lines start around noon.
We still have some good dates open for perch until the end of October and good rates.
