North winds pushed all remaining ice in the western basin into the Ohio shoreline. Although the ice is melting we are still a week or so away from ice-free open water. Once the ice has cleared fishing will start to heat up. Plenty of male walleye will be available for anglers jigging on the Camp Perry reefs, Maumee Bay, and nearshore from Toledo to Huron. Larger female walleye can be caught by trolling minnow imitating stickbaits in the open water around the reefs and islands. Be extremely cautious with water temperatures in the mid 30’s.
