Western Basin

Walleye fishing has been excellent. Fishing has been best in the gravel pit between the Toledo shipping channel and West Sister Island, around “A” can of the Camp Perry firing range, west and north of North Bass Island, and southwest of Gull Island Shoal. Drifters are using mayfly rigs or worm harnesses with bottom bouncers, while trollers are using worm harnesses, jet or dipsy divers and spoons, or crankbaits.

The best yellow perch fishing in the western basin has been off of Lakeside in 24’ of water, 1 mile east of the Marblehead lighthouse, and around “D” can of the Camp Perry firing range. Perch spreaders with shiners fished near the bottom produce the most fish.
