| From fair to wow! It didn't take very long for the Walleye fishing out of Ashtabula to heat up big time. Our second week home produced limit catches of really nice, mixed sized Walleyes. We've even boated a few Steelhead now. The Walleyes at the present time are not very far off shore at all. Although we've caught a few as deep as 70 ft. of water, by far the shallower water ranging from 40 - 50 ft. has been the most productive. The Walleyes seem to be hanging about 30 ft. below the surface. All very easily targeted with the #40 Jet Divers that we've been using off the big planer boards. The big Dipseys have been very active as well the past few days. |

| As of this writing, the "03" class of Walleyes have really turned on. Hopefully we'll continue to get at least a mix of some nice sized Walleyes with this incredible onslaught of three year olds that everyone is catching wherever you go in Lake Erie. I am so excited for the years to come as I watch these beautiful Walleye grow like a proud father. At the present time I would say most are 18 - 22 inches in length, and average 2 - 3 lbs. Throw in a few big ones for bragging rights and you've had a heck of a day. |

| One thing that I have really noticed is that on most days, it is an early morning bite. I can not tell you how important it is to get an early start. I urge all of my charters to be on the boat and heading out by 5:30 a.m. Just a few hours after daylight the action is down to almost nothing. Simply amazing. The past few days we left at 5:00 a.m.! We caught 2/3 of all our fish in the first couple hours of daylight and then really struggled to finish out the box. All I can say at this point is for everyone to make every effort possible to hit the water by dawn if you expect a full box. I can only do so much after they shut off. Weird but that's the way it has been going so far this year. |

| Water temps are now in the mid 60's. Fuel prices at the marina pumps are at $3.05 a gallon. Most of our day trips are now booked for the season but we do take a cancellation from time to time. Please do not hesitate to inquire. Another option for those that don't have to drive too far is an afternoon trip. However I do cap these trips at a maximum of four persons.
