We’re back home! After what feels like a blur, our two-month stay at Port Clinton, OH is behind us, and we are back at our homeport, Ashtabula, OH for the rest of the season. The fishing is awesome! The last two to three weeks at Port Clinton was impressive but the size of the Walleyes that we are catching right now in front of Ashtabula is simply unbelievable.

In our first four trips, we’ve taken 11 Walleyes over 28 inches, 6 of them over 30 inches, and one bruiser that measured 32 ½ inches! Our early trips have landed anywhere from 15 – 28 Walleyes. With catches like this, limits are not far away but it really doesn’t matter as long as we are doing consistent catches of truly trophy caliber Walleyes in good numbers. All of our groups thus far have been blown away.

The huge fish are still in rather close to shore with most of our fish being found in 54 to 64 feet of water. Stinger spoons fished off of the jet divers and planer boards are getting the job done. Just like early last summer, hardly any Steelhead Trout are being caught. I know they are schooled up well off shore, and once we venture out further, we’ll see plenty of Trout action mixed in with our Walleye catches.

Water temps as of early June are running in the low 60’s. I’m very impressed with this early action. It will only get better with each day. We are booked quite heavy for most of the summer but we do have a dozen or so openings still available. Please call or email us for the most current list of available dates. We also offer afternoon trips and these are for the most part wide open. If you’ve never experienced our Walleye season here in Ashtabula, OH, I invite everyone onboard “The Trophy” for a day of incredible fishing!

Capt. Walt
