Central Basin

Walleye
Where: Some walleye have been caught on the north end of the Huron dumping grounds and north of Ruggles Reef around the 27/27 lines (minutes of latitude and longitude). Anglers are also catching some fish in 25-to-40 feet of water north of Cleveland in the evenings, and in 10-to-30 feet of water of north of Fairport Harbor. Anglers fishing from shore are catching a few fish from Cleveland to Fairport.
How: Anglers are trolling spoons, and shallow and deep diving crankbaits. Anglers fishing from shore are using shallow diving crankbaits.

Yellow perch
Where: Very good fishing has been reported in 36-to-48 feet of water north-northwest of Edgewater Park, in 38-to-42 feet of water north Gordon Park, in 53-to-68 feet of water north of Fairport Harbor, and in 40-to-69 feet of water north-northeast of Geneva. Fish are being caught from shore off the E. 55th Street and E. 72nd Street piers in Cleveland and at the long and short piers on the Grand River.
How: Perch spreaders with shiners fished near the bottom produce the most fish.

Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass
Where: Fishing has been good around the harbor areas in Cleveland, Fairport Harbor, Geneva, Ashtabula and Conneaut.
How: Anglers are using crank baits, soft plastic lures with jigs, drop shot rigs with leeches, and soft craws.

Steelhead
Where: Good fishing has been reported by anglers trolling and casting in harbors, break walls and nearshore areas at Conneaut, Ashtabula, Geneva, Fairport Harbor, Eastlake, and Rocky River.
How: Anglers are using spoons, jigs and maggots, spinners, and small crank baits either by casting or trolling.

The Lake Erie water temperature is 47 degrees off Toledo and 54 degrees off Cleveland according to the nearshore marine forecast.

Anglers are encouraged to always wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device while boating.
