*Lake Erie surface temperatures are between 45 and 50 degrees. Be sure to
check the latest marine forecast for up-to-date lake conditions.*

Western Basin-

No walleye fishing reports have been received in the past week. As
temperatures drop, the potential to catch trophy walleye increases around
Kelleys Island, the Bass Islands and Marblehead.

No yellow perch reports were received during the past week due to rough,
muddy conditions.

Central Basin-

The best walleye fishing in the central basin has been from W of the Huron
River to Vermilion. Prior to gale force winds last week trollers were
catching fish on deep diving crankbaits or divers with spoons. Last week's
winds decreased water clarity near Huron to less than 1 foot. Expect
fishing to improve as water clarity increases and conditions stabilize.
Fish size has ranged from 16" to over 30". Walleye have also occasionally
been caught by shore anglers from pier breakwalls at night.

No yellow perch reports were received during the past week due to rough,
muddy conditions.

Smallmouth bass up to 6 pounds have been incidentally caught on Ruggles Reef
by anglers trolling for walleye. Although waters offshore near Ruggles Reef
are muddy, the clarity on Ruggles Reef was over 2 feet.

Steelhead fishing was very good during the past week. On the Grand River,
anglers are catching fish from the short pier in Fairport up to Harpersfield
dam. Best locations have been from the lower sections of the Grand around
the uniroyal hole, pipe bridge and Rt 84. On the Chagrin River, anglers are
catching fish at Chagrin River Park. Rivers are rising due to rainfall.
Check with local bait shops for up-to-date river conditions. The steelhead
have ranged in size from 16 to 28". Anglers are using Little Cleos, jigs
tipped with maggots and egg (spawn) sacks.
