OHIO BOATING CONFERENCE TO CONVENE AT MAUMEE BAY STATE PARK ON NOVEMBER 12-14

COLUMBUS, OH -- Boating professionals from across Ohio will gather
at Maumee Bay State Park in Lucas County on November 12-14 for Confluence
2003: Ohio's Boating Legacy, a conference hosted by the Ohio Department of
Natural Resources (ODNR).
"Boating leaders from around the state come together during this
biannual event to explore issues, trends and forecasts that will shape
outdoor recreation, resource management and public safety well into the
future," said Ken Alvey, chief of the ODNR Division of Watercraft. "This
year's conference will also commemorate significant dates and events that
have contributed to the history and success of recreational boating in
Ohio."
Experts in the areas of education, law enforcement, marketing,
environmental research and the recreational boating industry will be present
during the three-day conference to discuss various topics. Confluence 2003
will also provide training and information to assist participants in
preparing for the future of recreational boating in the Buckeye State.
